The Foundation was legally set up on 11 December 2006 as a Stichting under Dutch law (registered under no27294663 with the Chamber of Commerce in The Hague).
Its first Board consists of - Cees Flinterman (former Director of SIM, member of CEDAW) - Sharon Rusu (information specialist, founder of Reliefweb) - Jan de Koning (lawyer specialised in media law) - Leo Hannewijk (director of the film festival ‘Film by the Sea’ and Director International Film Festival Breda) - David Vriesendorp (director of Eb&Vloed en former director of the Dutch section of Amnesty International) - Hans Thoolen (former UNHCR staff and founder of several NGOs including the MEA).
A group of Dutch personalities will act as Advisors, namely: - Dr. R.F.M. Lubbers, former Prime Minster and former UNHCR - Drs. H. d’Ancona, former minister for Emancipation and former minister of Health - Drs. W. Deetman, former mayor of The Hague en current member of the Raad van State. - Dr. M. van der Stoel, former minister of Foreign Affairs and former High Commissioner forMinorities. - Mr. Paul van Tongeren, Secretary General Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict.
In a later phase personalities from other parts of the world will be added.
